AIIA expands Ayurveda healthcare, records over 37.74 lakh patient visits in a decade

**New Delhi, Oct 16, 2026:** The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, has catered to 37,74,524 patients from October 2016 to September 2026, completing a decade of clinical operations and extending outreach through its main campus, affiliated facilities and satellite centers.

Around 30.37 lakh patients were treated at the institute’s main campus in Sarita Vihar, New Delhi, and about 7.37 lakh patients received services through its satellite and affiliated facilities, the institute said in a report.

The figures underline the growing role of the institute in providing health care services based on Ayurveda and its larger mandate to improve education, research and innovation in Ayurveda.

AIIA Celebrates 10 Years of Clinical Services

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has developed clinical infrastructure for outpatient consultations, inpatient care and specialised treatment services.

The institute’s New Delhi campus has OPDs that can handle about 3,000 patients a day. Its inpatient department (IPD) has 200 beds for hospital-based care.

The number of patients reported is a reflection of the institute’s clinical activity over ten years, and the growth in the size of its healthcare operations.# Outreach Centers Extend Access Beyond New Delhi

Besides the main campus, AIIA has further extended access to its services by establishing satellite, affiliated and outreach facilities in various localities.

These include its satellite center in Goa and facilities at Safdarjung Hospital, the UPSC Building, the National Cancer Institute in Jhajjar, the IAS Training Center in Mussoorie and at Kevadia, Ekta Nagar. The extension of services outside the main campus offers patients more avenues for access of Ayurveda consultation and treatment in different institutional and geographical settings.

Patient Footfall More Than Quadrupled

AIIA Director Professor (Vaidya) P. K. Prajapati said there was a lot of public interest in Ayurveda during the COVID-19 pandemic and in subsequent years.

The number of patients increased from around 1.23 lakh in 2020 to over 5.40 lakh in September 2026, a rise of more than four times, said the institute’s report.

The increase is due to increased use of the institute’s clinical services. But the number of patients attending does not of itself confirm the effectiveness of treatment or the change in disease outcomes.

Bridging Traditional Knowledge & Scientific Research

AIIA’s activities are not limited to patient care but also include Ayurveda education, research & institutional collaboration. Its larger purpose is to advance the scientific study of Ayurveda and to foster the development of clinical services and professional education.

The institute’s decade long report was released in connection with its Foundation Day celebrations. This event was organised simultaneously with KAUMARACON 2026, demonstrating their ongoing participation in professional and academic activities in Ayurveda.

The combination of clinical services, research and education is intended to support the further development of Ayurveda in an increasingly research-oriented health care environment.# Ayurveda’s Healthcare Footprint Expansion

The milestone of reporting more than 37.74 lakh patients speaks about the scale of clinical operations of AIIA in its first 10 years, including services provided at its main campus and affiliated centers.

The institute’s expanding network provides opportunities to increase access to Ayurveda services and to strengthen the link between clinical practice, research and education.

As AIIA continues to build its institutional capabilities, sustained focus on clinical quality, patient safety, research standards and evidence-informed practice will remain important to AIIA’s long-term contribution to India’s Ayurveda healthcare ecosystem.
